What we do in Forensic Science:
Sometimes called simply forensics, forensic science encompasses many different fields of science, including anthropology, biology, chemistry, engineering, genetics, medicine, pathology, psychiatry, and toxicology.
This course is a lab-based, hands-on course that explores the work of forensics. Students collect and document physical evidence, perform laboratory analysis, and present their results. Course work examines actual case histories of crimes and requires students to apply basic understandings of physics, chemistry, biology, psychiatry, math, and more to reveal the whole story of a crime. Students will engage in relevant, real world problems, use and apply technology, and learn to communicate, collaborate, think critically and creatively. Students will conduct original research, showcase their learning, and have opportunity to compete in the Skills USA Crime Scene Investigation competition.
